Connect LouderLines with n8n, the powerful open-source workflow automation platform. n8n can be self-hosted for complete control or used via n8n Cloud.
What You’ll Need
- A LouderLines account on selected paid plans
- An n8n instance (Cloud or self-hosted)
- Your LouderLines API key
Part 1: Getting Your LouderLines API Key
- Log in to your LouderLines account
- Go to Integrations in the sidebar
- Click Create Key
- Name it “n8n Integration”
- Select Live environment

Step 4: Test the Connection
- In n8n, make sure the Webhook node shows “Listening”
- In LouderLines, click Test next to your webhook
- n8n should receive the data
- Click Stop listening and save your workflow
Step 5: Add Signature Verification (Recommended)
For security, verify webhook signatures:
- Add a Function node after the Webhook
- Add this code:
const crypto = require('crypto');
// Get the signature from headers
const signature = $input.first().headers['x-louderlines-signature'];
const secret = 'YOUR_WEBHOOK_SECRET_HERE';
// Calculate expected signature
const payload = JSON.stringify($input.first().body);
const expectedSig = 'sha256=' + crypto
.createHmac('sha256', secret)
.update(payload)
.digest('hex');
// Verify
if (signature !== expectedSig) {
throw new Error('Invalid webhook signature');
}
return $input.all();
- Replace
YOUR_WEBHOOK_SECRET_HEREwith your actual secret
Part 3: Making API Requests
Use the HTTP Request node to interact with the LouderLines API.
Setting Up Credentials
- Go to Credentials in n8n sidebar
- Click Add Credential
- Search for Header Auth
- Configure:
- Name: LouderLines API
- Header Name: Authorization
- Header Value: Bearer ll_live_YOUR_API_KEY
- Save
Making a GET Request
- Add HTTP Request node
- Configure:
- Method: GET
- URL:
https://www.louderlines.com/api/v1/subscribers - Authentication: Predefined Credential Type
- Credential Type: Header Auth
- Header Auth: LouderLines API (the one you created)
- Options → Response Format: JSON
Making a POST Request
- Add HTTP Request node
- Configure:
- Method: POST
- URL:
https://www.louderlines.com/api/v1/subscribers - Authentication: Header Auth (as above)
- Body Content Type: JSON
- Body Parameters:
- email:
{{$json.email}} - first_name:
{{$json.name}}
- email:
Part 4: Example Workflows
Workflow 1: Post to Twitter on New Content
[Webhook] → [Twitter: Create Tweet]
Webhook Node:
- Listen for
answer.publishedevents
Twitter Node:
- Connect your Twitter account
- Tweet text:
{{$json.body.data.title}} {{$json.body.data.content_plain.substring(0, 180)}}... Read more: {{$json.body.data.custom_link || $json.body.data.post_url}} {{$json.body.data.hashtags.join(' ')}}
Workflow 2: Sync Subscribers to Airtable
[Webhook] → [Airtable: Create Record]
Webhook Node:
- Event:
subscriber.created
Airtable Node:
- Connect your Airtable account
- Select your base and table
- Fields:
- Email:
{{$json.body.data.email}} - Name:
{{$json.body.data.first_name}} - Subscribed:
{{$json.body.data.subscribed_at}} - Source: “LouderLines”
- Email:
Workflow 3: Daily Stats Email
[Schedule] → [HTTP Request] → [Function] → [Send Email]
Schedule Trigger:
- Run every day at 8:00 AM
HTTP Request Node:
- GET
https://www.louderlines.com/api/v1/subscribers?since=24h - Use your API credentials
Function Node:
const subscribers = $input.first().json.data || [];
const count = subscribers.length;
return [{
json: {
count: count,
subscribers: subscribers
}
}];
Send Email Node:
- Subject: “LouderLines Daily Report”
- Body:
You gained {{$json.count}} new subscribers yesterday! {{#each $json.subscribers}} - {{this.email}} ({{this.first_name}}) {{/each}}
Workflow 4: Lead Scoring with Notion
[Webhook] → [If] → [Notion: Create Page]
Webhook Node:
- Event:
subscriber.created
If Node:
- Condition:
{{$json.body.data.first_name}}is not empty - True branch → Notion (high quality lead)
- False branch → different handling (or end)
Notion Node:
- Database: Your leads database
- Properties:
- Name:
{{$json.body.data.first_name}} - Email:
{{$json.body.data.email}} - Quality: “High” (has name)
- Source: “LouderLines”
- Name:
Workflow 5: Multi-Platform Social Posting
[Webhook] → [Switch] → [Twitter]
→ [LinkedIn]
→ [Buffer]
Webhook Node:
- Events:
answer.published,custom_post.published
Switch Node:
- Output 0: Always (Twitter)
- Output 1: If has image (LinkedIn with image)
- Output 2: Always (Buffer for scheduling)
Use different formatting for each platform.
Part 5: Advanced Patterns
Storing API Key as Variable
Instead of hardcoding, use workflow variables:
- Add a Set node at the start
- Set variable:
api_key=ll_live_YOUR_KEY - Reference as
{{$node["Set"].json.api_key}}
Error Handling
Add an Error Trigger workflow:
- Create new workflow
- Add Error Trigger node
- Add Send Email or Slack node to alert you
- In your main workflow, errors will trigger this
Retrying Failed Requests
Configure retries on HTTP Request nodes:
- Open HTTP Request node settings
- Under Options:
- Retry on Fail: true
- Max Tries: 3
- Wait Between Tries: 1000ms
Rate Limiting
Add delays for bulk operations:
- Add Wait node between iterations
- Set delay to avoid rate limits (e.g., 100ms)
Part 6: Self-Hosted n8n Tips
If you’re running n8n yourself:
Webhook URL Configuration
Set your public URL in environment:
N8N_HOST=https://n8n.yourdomain.com
WEBHOOK_URL=https://n8n.yourdomain.com
HTTPS Requirement
LouderLines requires HTTPS for webhooks. Options:
- Use a reverse proxy (nginx/Caddy) with SSL
- Use n8n Cloud for automatic SSL
- Use a tunnel service (ngrok, Cloudflare Tunnel)
Persistent Credentials
Ensure credentials survive restarts:
N8N_ENCRYPTION_KEY=your-secret-key
Troubleshooting
“Connection Refused” in Webhook Test
- Ensure n8n is publicly accessible
- Check your URL uses HTTPS
- Verify firewall allows incoming connections on your n8n port
“401 Unauthorized” on API Requests
- Check Header Auth credential is correct
- Ensure
Bearerprefix (with space) is included - Verify API key is active in LouderLines
Webhook Data Not Appearing
- Click “Execute Node” on webhook to start listening
- Check n8n execution logs
- Verify webhook is Active in LouderLines
- Use LouderLines Test button to send sample
“Expression Error”
- Check your expression syntax:
{{$json.field}} - Use optional chaining for possibly-null fields:
{{$json.data?.email}} - Test with static values first, then add expressions
Workflow Not Triggering
- For webhooks: Ensure workflow is Active (toggle in header)
- For schedules: Check timezone settings
- View execution list for errors
